Valentine's Day

It's Valentine's Day....the celebration of Love for some but not all.

love
noun
  1. 1.
an intense feeling of deep affection.
    • a deep romantic or sexual attachment to someone.
    • a personified figure of love, often represented as Cupid.
a great interest and pleasure in something.
    • affectionate greetings conveyed to someone on one's behalf.
    • a formula for ending an affectionate letter.

When we think of "love" we think of the romanticized version, a loving relationship with a man or woman.  We envision a romantic whirl wind of love, being showered with attention and affection from the man or woman of our dreams. We fantasize about the perfect love; a happy committed faithful relationship. We look forward to being spoiled and showered with love espeacially on Valentine's Day.

Unfortunately, the sad reality is that some of us will be alone on Valentine's Day. Whether we are single or in an unfulfilling relationship Valentine's Day hurts and turns into a day of grief. Even as I sit here and write this post I feel a little saddened because my idea of a romanticized Valentines Day may not be fulfilled. I probably will not be swept off my feet or even receive candy or a dozen red roses. Unfortunately, there's a chance that I will be left lonely and disappointed.

How do you handle the grief of loneliness and a broken heart on Valentine's Day?

We must remember that there is a greater love, the greatest love of all...the Love of Our Heavenly Father.  God is Love. HE is the Creator, the source, the Author of Love.

The LORD says that "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee".  You are not alone. Even in your darkest hour you are not alone. Unlike man the love of the LORD is enduring and never changes. His Love will heal the lonely and broken heart. HE declares His love for us and makes those promises though scripture.

Psalms 147:3
"He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds."

Matthew 11:28
"Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Hebrews 13:8
"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forevermore."

Psalm 103:2-4
"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who croweth thee with loving kindness and tender   mercies."

If you are feeling lonely turn to your Heavenly Father he will restore you, heal your brokenness, fill your heart with peace, love and joy. He's waiting with open arms.

I wish you all a wonderful day filled with joy, love, happiness and peace. XOXO
